Ruvinsphere - Book 3

In the third novel of the series Charles attends the mysterious Brahmsley University and is introduced to an intriguing fast-paced sport by his roommate Josh Van der Heijden. Charles is determined to learn how to play the popular game that is steeped in Sojourner tradition.

If he is successful at playing ruvinsphere then the experience that he stands to gain would give him an edge as he continues to learn the life skills that are necessary in order for him to become one of the most influential men in the universe, the Prime Minister of Bridgeiro.

Bridgeiro - Book 4

I'm very excited to announce that the cover for the 4th book of The Xidoran Prophecy Series - Bridgeiro is now completed! Tom Wood is the talented artist that created this spectacular artwork.  He did such a fantastic job that it looks as if the characters from my series could walk right out from the pages of the book! If you have Facebook it would mean a lot to me if you would please take a moment to go to his page, Tom Wood Fantasy Art, and either like the cover or leave him a positive message about the cover. He worked hard on getting every detail perfect. Tom has given me permission to share with everyone that comes to my website the iterations of art that we collaborated on as we created the cover. Over the next couple of days, I will be blogging about the entire process and posting the images for you to see.

"My Best Friend’s Cootie Catcher"

Lyrics by Elaine Bassett © 1998

My best friend Trudie taught me how to make a Cootie Catcher on the bus one day on our way home from school

She showed me hers and it was blue, green, purple and red

I took mine home and colored it

I knew it was lame but I made mine the same

Blue, green, purple and red

With that being said that’s just how it was ‘cause we were best friends

The next morning when I got on the bus I sat down next to Trudie

I took out my Cootie Catcher from my backpack and showed her what I’d done

We giggled all the way to school asking each other silly questions about anything that we could think of under the sun about the boys in our classes using my Cootie Catcher

It was

Blue, green, purple and red

That’s just how it was because

we were best friends forever-

Several days later our school was going to be having a dance

A boy I barely knew glanced at me from across the lunchroom

He slowly walked over to where Trudie and I were sitting and asked me if I’d go to the dance with him

I stumbled on my words as Trudie handed me her colorful Cootie Catcher

I looked at it and then swallowed hard

I heard myself asking blue, green, purple or red-

He looked at me and then at Trudie who was smiling

He put his shoulders back and proudly said-

Blue’s my favorite color, will you go to the dance with me?

Blue, green, purple or red-

When I finished he pointed to a number and I opened the flap and this is what it said: The answer is true if they first picked blue

So my answer to him was-

So we went to the school dance together and to make a long story short

We stayed together through all kinds of life’s weather until the day he asked me to marry him

He got down on one knee and Trudie who was sittin’ beside me once again pulled out her Cootie Catcher and handed it to me

He asked,

My Darling

Will you marry me

I’m as wild as can be about you

If you say yes to me

I won’t put anyone else above you

I’ll always think of you

Because I truly love you

So I sat up straight and asked him-

Blue, green, purple or red-

And this is what he said- Purple, this time I’m certain I’m choosing purple

I looked at Trudie and she shrugged

Blue, green, purple or red

When I finished he picked a number and this is what it said when I opened the flap-

Maybe others will turn away, but I’m here to stay

So I said-

So I married him and we had many happy years together our love weathered every storm and he stayed true to his word until the day he died

Later on I was going through his things and found a box on the top shelf that I hadn’t noticed before and I pulled it down. Inside the box was a note with Trudie’s blue, green, purple and red Cootie Catcher.

The note read-

My Darling,

Please forgive me

I was shy and you were so high above me

It was love at first glance

I was young and didn’t stand a chance to win your heart-

But I knew if I did somehow we’d never part

So I always sat behind you

Hoping to hear you speak my name

I’m the one to blame

Please forgive me-

I listened to your conversation

Blue, green, purple or red

I know what you said and you never once said my name

From that moment on I knew I’d never be given the chance to win your heart We’d remain forever apart

I’d given up hope until your best friend came to me and said-

She knew I was wild about you and she’d make you see that we belonged together

So when I asked you to the dance and you asked me blue, green purple or red I already knew what it said-

That night when you went to the dance with me

You were as lovely as could be and I knew

I was given the chance I’d always hoped for

I worked hard every day to win your love

I wanted you to know I was true blue

I was in love with you.

It was then I knew that someday I’d go down on one knee

And ask you to be my wife and spend the rest of your life with me

So I spent my life trying my best to make you a happy wife and show you how much your love meant to me

As tears fell from my eyes I spoke these words out loud-

My Darling,

Please forgive me

If you only knew

It was I that first loved you

I always knew you were sitting in the seat behind me

I guess Trudie was the only one that knew the truth

I was shy and thought you were so high above me

I didn’t think you could have noticed me

But it was love at first glance

I was young and didn’t think I stood a chance to win your heart-

But I knew if I did somehow we’d never part

I know I was blessed from above to have won your love

And I happily spent the rest of my life being your wife

It’s true

I’ll always love you
